Waterford Greenway

The Waterford Greenway is a spectacular 46km off road cycling and walking trail along the old railway line which runs between Waterford City and Dungarvan. From our Hotel you continue along the Quay beside the River Suir, out by Mount Congreve Gardens, Kilmacthomas, accross 11 bridges, over 3 Viaducts and through a 400 metre long tunnel with wonderful views of the Commeragh Mountains until you arrive by the Sea and onto Dungarvan.

The Greenway is an ideal route for all the family to enjoy with many stop points along the way though we do advise bringing supplies. You can join at various points and hire bikes too so it really is accessible to all.

Viking Triangle

The Waterford Viking Triangle is the 'Old Town' of Waterford City, just a short walk from our hotel. This is where you will find some of the key attractions of Irelands Ancient East, Including the House of Waterford Crystal, Bishops Palace, the award winning Medieval Museum and Reginalds Tower.

The area is a nice place to stroll and take in the surroundings with little cafes and places to visit.

House of Waterford Crystal

The factory tour includes the following traditional production areas; wooden mould making, crystal blowing and furnace, crystal cutting and quality inspection and finishing.

Coumshingaun Loop Walk

Coumshingaun Loop is one of the most spectacular walks/ hikes anywhere in Ireland. Surrounding the Corrie the loop is a strenuous 4 hour hike and you definetely need to be prepared. The Views are breathtaking and on a clear day you can see as far as Hook Head in Co Wexford.

Mahon Falls

Mahon Falls is a pleasant and easy family walk with easy access and car parking nearby. The Waterfall tumbles from the Commeragh Mountains and offers great scenic view of the surrounding countryside. You can continue your dirve through the mountains to make a day of it.

Copper Coast

The Copper Coast Scenic Drive goes through six villages and winds its way along the coast, revealing secret beaches and hidden coves. So pack a picnic and bring you swim gear and explore one of Ireland's hidden secrets. The Copper Coast Scenic drive also takes in the Copper Coast Geopark, Irelands only UNESCO Geopark.

The Copper Coast Geopark comprises 90 square Kilometres and is loved for its unspoilt and rugged coastline with hidden coves and caves, golden beaches and pretty villages. The Geopark is a remarkable area where geology,ecology,archaeology, agriculture and mining heritage from the copper mining industry of the 19th century all contribute to the culture and uniqueness of the region.There are guided tours exploring the history and heritage of the area.

Lismore

Situated within the Old Courthouse Building in the heart of Lismore Town, Lismore Heritage Centre was opened in 1992 to share insights into Lismore's Heritage and History. Lismore is located at the foot of the Knockmealdown Mountains on the River Blackwater and has the Magnificent Castle as its backdrop.

There is a great virtual tour of the castle plus guided walks of the town you can partake in. Lismore is one of Ireland most Picturesque towns and a gateway to so many places in West Waterford to see and visit including

  • Ballysaggartmore Towers
  • Dromans Gate near Cappoquin
  • Mount Melleray
  • The Vee Mountain Drive

Beaches & Swimming

With almost 150km of Coastline and some 49 beaches dotted along you are spoiled for choice when it comes t beaches and swimming. Waterford City is located close to some of the best beaches and seaside towns in Ireland such as Tramore, Dunmore East and Woodstown.

There are also many smaller beaches along the coastal drive to Dunagravan and on to Ardmore right down to Youghal. For the sea swimmers there are also some great ploaces such as the Guillamene & Newtown coves in Tramore and Portally in Dunmore East.

Dunmore East Adventure Centre

At Dunmore Adventure they offer individuals and groups a unique adventure experience that you won't find anywhere else!

From purpose-built Adventure Centre at the water's edge in Dunmore East, Co Waterford, Ireland, they use the sheltered coves as a playground, introducing you to a wide range of water activities; from Wibit Wipeout Water Park to Windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding to sailing.

Walking Trails

Dunes Walk Tramore – the dramatic Dunes walk in Tramore will certainly leave you refreshed. The Dunes are some of the highest in Ireland and the full walk is approx 5km. Best to do this walk when tide is out.

Woods Walk Dunmore East - Offering a completely different flora experience to that of the coastal village, this forest trail takes you through the Lower Woods, the Upper Woods and the Upper Village of Dunmore East.

Waterford Nature Park - Situated just outside Waterford City on the Tramore Road, Waterford Nature Park is a great walk and play area for the kids. There are excercise spaces, nature trails, wildlife areas and wildflower meadows. There are a number of paths to enure you can see all parts of the park.

Cliff Coastal Walk Dunmore East - The walk includes the Harbour and the Coastal Path that connects Dunmore East to the picturesque Portally Cove. The path is situated above many inlets carved in the cliffs which offer spectacular views of the ruggedt coastline.

Peoples Park Waterford – located just a few metres from our front door is the Peoples park which is great to relax and unwind, with kiddies play areas & onsite café.
